Farmers: Smallholder farmers of the COOPAC cooperative
Altitude: 1900 MASL
Flavornotes: Black pepper, hibiscus
This special limited-run single origin coffee comes from the Gakenke region of Rwanda, located in the northern province. The Gakenke washing station is one of 50 stations overseen by the COOPAC cooperative, which brings together coffees from over 8,000 smallholder coffee farmers in the area.
With a light-medium roast, this complex coffee has flavor notes of black pepper and hibiscus. It is especially floral when brewed as a pour-over, with just a hint of black cherry on the finish. Brew it on a drip maker, and you'll get a deeper, somewhat darker taste, with finish notes of roasted chocolate.
